Steps to Install a Boat Trailer Rock Guards
If you're handy, you can easily install your rock guard system yourself in about an hour. When completing the following steps, tighten things just enough to keep them in place for initial tensioning of the mesh panels. After completing the installation, you can make small adjustments, then tighten everything up for the permanent configuration.
2. Insert and fasten the eye bolt in the end of the mast that has a single drilled hole.
3. Fasten the mast in the previously installed mount on the trailer tongue.
4. On each side, measure 68 inches between the mast mount and the boom mount location. Mark with a welder's chalk or masking tape. - Then repeat with 60 inches between the mast mount and the mesh rear eyebolt assy.
5. Using your marks fasten the mast mounts. One on each side of the boat trailer.
6. Using your marks, fasten the eyebolt assembly on each side of the trailer.
7. Fasten the booms into the boom mounts on each side. Adjust to be in the most vertical position to make mesh installation easier. - Slide your mesh panels onto the booms.
8. Using the supplied carabiners, fasten the front of the mesh panels to the mast.
9. Tension the rear side of the mesh panels, using the bungee straps.
9. Tension the rear side of the mesh panels, using the bungee straps.
10. Using the attached strap and D-rings, fasten secure the front of the mesh panels to the trailer tongue.
Final Adjustments
Make any final adjustments to the mounting locations, mast and booms. Snug up the fasteners. Tighten enough to ensure things are secure for travel, but don't overtighten.
